Well, it seems I've abandoned my livejournal, damn twitter -- which I'm liking more and more (this sums it up pretty well) ... And IRC (#plone) to some extent too... anyhow, I am going to blogging more / again but it won't be here. You can find me blogging about plone (of course), music, tv, etc over here: http://blog.darci.hanning.name/ sorry, make that http://darcilicious.hanning.name -- I'll try to get back to at least READING here but I've got a lot on my plate just now...

So far I have downloaded (but not yet tried) ljArchive and ljbackup. Feedback? Other suggestions? I have my original journal and my current journal to back up. I think at the end of the month I will have been on livejournal seven or eight years... I don't particularly want lose my entries should the worst happen.

Jan: First and foremost, Happy New Year everyone!

Feb: This is what happens to you when some jerk tailgates you on an icy street.

Mar: i haven't wanted to say anything (for fear of jinxing it ;-) but our weather the past two weeks has been pretty remarkable.

Apr: Yes, you can still count me among the living!

May: i'm not feeling all that great.

June: a full system restore of my new toy (hp vista media center that i bought in early may) is going to happen real soon now.

July: Well. I finally made it home around noon. Long story short, United hadn't actually confirmed my seat for the flight they booked me on after they canceled my original flight.

Aug: We've had a fantastic couple of days -- we left Sedona Thursday morning (north to Flagstaff) with a quick stop at a small park on the right side of Hwy 89 -- I can't remember the name of it though :p

Sept: like flipping channels and tuning into universal hd just in time for the start of highlander as in the original movie. in. h.d. on a 46" tv. oh, yeah.

Oct: http://www.theonion.com/content/node/28619

Nov: Another late entry :)

Dec: this is an iphone app that let's you see where your friends are via gps. loopt )

I don't have anything special going on but I have been meaning to take/share more photos so I'm going to give this one a shot :) Here are the rules:

1. You must take between 6 and 8 new photographs per day.
2. Your WITL must be consecutive. No skipping days.
3. You must post your photographs at the end of that day, some time after the last picture is taken.
4. Each photograph must have the time taken and a title, with no other explanation. (Discussion in comments is fine and encouraged.)

(These are not great quality -- they're just from my iPhone which isn't the best camera ever, even by mobile standards ;-) They're not cropped but I did adjust the color/exposure on most.)

Just in case... if there's anyone out there that doesn't have a Netflix account and would like a free month trial version here's the link. Netflix is doing a heavy promotional stint at the moment and normally only offers free two-week trials. I'm fairly certain the free trial period includes access to their streaming content as well (dial-up users probably won't want to try it though).

Full disclosure: I'm a current customer of Netflix and may receive up to five bonus rentals if you use the above link. I've been an on-again, off-again customer of theirs since they opened for business. I love their service :)

Did you ever hear about how Joss wanted to do something on just Giles? Rumor/conjecture has been circulating for years that Ripper might come to pass and now it looks like it's one step closer (if you're in Brittain that is).

In other news, what was the point exactly of broadcasting only eight episodes of Traveler?? We start to get a glimpse of just how deep the rabbit hole goes and... STOP! That's all you get. How rude!

Meanwhile, I'm hooked on Damages because I mean, come on, we're talking Glen Close, people! Starring weekly! From what I've seen and read so far, it's going to be the best (only?) lawyer drama that never has a courtroom scene!

Also this summer, the Brits (ITV I think) are spitting out four more episodes to make series five of Wire in the Blood; still as good as ever but I predict there won't be any more episodes after this series...

Back stateside, I'm totally enjoying Burn Notice and Psych both of which make me laugh out loud. Neither have award-winning performances or writing but both are just good fun -- even Peter watches these two with me :)

Last but not least, in movie news, the longest trailer yet is out for The Golden Compass (choose extended preview) -- looks like they did a pretty good job putting this complex book on the big screen. I'm not sure I can say the same for the updated, adaption of The Dark is Rising... I'll go see it of course, and then decide. But having just re-read the series earlier this summer, it'll take some convincing that they did a good job.

it was relatively warm last week, reaching 90F for a couple of days. but that's nothing on the upcoming week where temps are expected to reach 100F and higher :(

those are the kind of days i like to go in to work late and stay late -- free a/c at work ;-)

and speaking of work, it's going to be a crazy one so if you don't hear from me, that's why!
